Srijit Mukherji (Chief Mentor-Film Direction)

Srijit Mukherji is a national award winning Indian director and screenplay writer who predominantly works in Bengali Cinema.His first feature film Autograph (2010), was a critical and commercial success, where he had written the script with superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee in mind. Autograph won 41 awards and was an official selection at Abu Dhabi International Film Festival 2010, MIAAC Film Festival in New York 2010, Glasgow International Film Festival 2011 and London Indian Film Festival 2011.His film ‘JAATISHWAR’ won four national awards at India’s 61st National Film Awards in 2014.Another film ‘CHOTUSHKONE’ won National Film Award for ‘Best Director’ and ‘Best Original Screenplay’ at India’s 62nd National Film Award in 2014. In 2018 ‘EK JE CHHILO RAJA’ won ‘The Best Bengali Film’ award at India’s National Film Awards in 2018. Biplab Das gupta (Dean, HOD-Acting))

Veteran actor Biplab Das Gupta needs no introduction. He has been working as an actor for over two decades now. Not only in films, he has been simultaneously working for television as well as theatre. His debut film was ‘SHADOWS OF TIME’ in 2004. He is best known for his roles in ‘DEBOTAAR GRASH’ alongside Soumitra Chattopadhyay and Naseeruddhin Shah, ‘FELUDA’, ‘BAISHE SHRABON’, ‘89’, ‘GUMNAAMI’ etc. He has been part of popular mega serials like ‘KUASHA JOKHON’, RAAGE ANURAAGE’,’SOKHI’, ‘NETAJI’,’CHECKMATE’ etc. He is also a celebrated elocutionist and having an extensive knowledge about literature, theatre and Indian cinema.

Atanu Ghosh (HOD-Film Direction)

Winner of numerous national and international awards, the great Indian filmmaker Atanu Ghosh’s works reflect an urge for exploring unique complexities of human behaviour pitted against the backdrop of rapidly changing society. He has directed some 23 telefilms. He has also worked as scriptwriter and editor for many eminent directors. Also, he has directed over 30 documentary and corporate films for many reputed organisations.
Hereceived the Doordarshan National Award for Best Children's telefilm Aar ekBampi in 2002. Another telefilm, Akashchhoan, was selected for the 10th International Kolkata Film Festival, 2004. Sumitra Online was selected for the Telesamman Award for the Best Telefilm of 2005, and Asamapto for Best Direction in 2006. MeghBrishtiRodh fetched him the coveted RAPA Award for Best screenplay. He was awarded the prestigious Shyamal Sen SmritiSamman in 2008.
His debut feature film, AngshumanerChhobi (2009) was selected in the Indian Panorama of the International Film Festival of India (2009) as well as in Competitive Section, was awarded the prestigious Aravindan Puraskaram for the Best debut film of 2009, the LankeshChitraPrashasti (Karnataka State Award for India's Best Debut Director ) Bengal Film Journalist Award as well as Audience Award (Rainbow Film Festival, London) besides 13 other national and international awards. His second film TakhanTeish(2011) was screened at film festivals in Shanghai, Osaka and other places. His third film RupkathaNoy was nominated for the FIPRESCI Award for Best Indian Film 2013, was officially selected in many film festivals including Shanghai International Film Festival,Dhaka International Film Festival and many others. It also received four Filmfare Awards. His fourth film, EkPhaaliRodh (2014), had its World Premiere at Shanghai International Film Festival in June 2014.
He received a National Film Award in the Best Film category for his 2018 movie Mayurakshi. It also received four Filmfare Awards Mayurakshi was awarded the prestigious ChitraBharathi for the Best Indian Cinema Award of 2018,the WBFJA (West Bengal Film Journalists' Association) besides 3 international nominations.

Tuhinaa Pandey (Joint Director, Faculty-Modelling)

Tuhinaa Pandey is renowned a model, groomer and fashion choreographer. Her passion to be fashionable drove her into the world of glamour and modelling during her early college days and she went on to participate in various beauty pageants and ventured into acting as well. But being an engineer academically, she started her career as a corporate woman and then concentrated in looking after the entire administration of a performing arts institute for fourteen long years. She was the 2nd Runners-up in Miss Bengal and the 1st Runners-up in Kolkata Sundari in the year 1996. She won the title of Inspirational Queen, Mrs. Bengal in 2019. In the same year she also won another title of Mrs. India-Timeless Beauty.As a model she walked the runway N-number of times and worked with almost every renowned fashion choreographer at that time viz. Lilian, Ashish, Samrat, Pepsi (Sabyasachi), Mona-Pali (Fashion Designer) etc. She also worked for brands like Minu Sarees, Jaysree Sarees, Pitty Sarees, Jalajog Food Products, Flora Food products etc. She worked as a compere in different programmes for Kolkata Doordarshan, such as ChhutiChhuti, Janmodeen, SaatSatero. She was part of two leading mega serials, ‘Andolon’ directed by Shri Prabhat Ray and ‘Monorama Cabin’ directed by Shri Jagannath Guha. She decided to make a comeback after 21 years and bounced back into the modelling arena with a bang. She was then crowned as Timeless Beauty in I-Glam RUBARU Mrs. India in 2019. She modelled for designer SathiRoychowdhury (Label-SathiRC) and designer Irani Mitra. She became the director of Bengal Queen,2019 (Season-1) , groomer of I-Glam RUBARU Miss. India Elite,2019 and I-Glam RUBARU Mr. India, 2019. She acts as a motivational guide to all her mentoring them and helping them in building up their level of confidence and guiding them towards their goals. Soumik Halder (HOD-Cinematography)

Fascinated by movies and the art of film making, Saumik Hader started his journey as an assistant to the famous photographer Hari Nair while he was shooting for the movie ‘SHOOL’.Making his debut into the film industry SaumikHalder was associated with the Bengali action drama ‘RAASTA’,following which he went on to be a part of movies like ‘CROSS CONNECTION’, ‘AREKTI PREMER GAWLPO’, ‘AMI AADU’, ‘BAISHE SHRABON’, ‘MEGHE DHAKA TARA’, ‘MISHWAR RAWHOSHYO’, ‘OBHISHAWPTO NIGHTY’, ‘CHHOTODER CHHOBI’, ‘AMAZON OBHIJAAN’, ‘MAYURAKSHI’, ‘ASCHHE ABAR SHABOR’ , ‘TOTAL DADAGIRI’, ‘UMA’, ‘URONCHONDI’, ‘DURGESHGORER GUTODHON’, ‘GUMNAAMI’, ‘PROFESSOR SHANKU O EL DORADO’, ‘DWITIYO PURUSH’, ‘NIRONTOR’ and many other notable projects. Arna Mukhopadhyay (HOD-Theatre)

Arna Mukhopadhyay is an Indian film and stage actor, director and playwrith. His fatherShib Mukhopadhyay is the artistic director of ‘Natadha’, one of the oldest theatre groups in Kolkata. Arna Mukhopadhyay is the successor of the group and he performs as well as directs several plays on stage. He has directed ‘Athhoi’ , a Bengali rendition of Shakespeare’s Othello, ‘Mahabharat-2’ , a modern interpretation of the UdyogaPawrbo of Mahabharat which garnered much appreciation from the audience. He also directed plays like ‘Shey Maya Kanon’, ‘Bohuboli’ , ‘Bishkaal’ , ‘Eka Tughlaq’, ‘Caesar o Cleopatra’ etc. for Natadha and ‘AleekBabu’ for Anya Theatre. He directed several children theatre productions in more than 20 schools of Kolkata and suburbs. Some of his other notable works as an actor are Dhruba (Theatre Platform), ChaitaliRaterSwopno (Anya Theatre), Hemlat (SwapnmaSuchana), Teesta (Abhaash), ekush Gram (Bratyajon), Tathagata (Rangapat), Vitton (Pancham Vaidik), EkdinMandirey Jawar Pathey (Sansriti). He has been training the youths of the city and suburbs in the art of acting and theatre in Natadha, Nandikar and several other institutions. He is the faculty of theatreat GTFTI and Natadha School of Performing Arts andformer faculty at Padatik, Shishu Kishore Akademi etc. In 2018 he was appeared in the films ‘Kabir’ and ‘Hoichoi Unlimited’ directed by Aniket Chattopadhyay. He also acted in ‘ShesherGolpo’ alongside late. SoumitraChattopadhyay.Hehas played a pivotal role in the film ‘Dictionary’ directed by BratyaBasu.

Kamaleshwar Mukherjee (Regular Faculty)

Kamaleshwar Mukherjee is a prominent name in the Bengali film industry.He was in medical profession and transitioned from it first to group theatre,then to the advertising world and then to film making. After working as an advertisement film maker, he wrote dialogues, screenplays and songs for the film ‘Natobar Not Out’ in the year 2010.His directorial debut, the well acclaimed film ‘Uro Chithi’ was released in 2011. His next venture was ‘Meghe Dhaka Tara’, inspired by the life and works of Bengali filmmaker, Ritwik Ghatak. ‘Meghe Dhaka Tara’ was a critically acclaimed film in the Bengali film circuit, and it won the International Film Festival of India Centenary award. His next film was ‘Chander Pahar’ (2013), based on a novel by Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay. Then he made the film ‘Khawto’. In 2017, he wrote and directed ‘Amazon Obhijaan’, (the sequel to Chander Pahar) - that was the costliest Bengali film ever made and is till date the biggest blockbuster in Bengali film history. Some of his notable films are ‘Cockpit’, ‘Good Night City’, ‘Mukhomukhi’,‘Password’ etc.As an actor he has performed in a lot of films. He is also a playwright, director and the founder member of Kolkata‐based theatre group Shailushik. He is also trained in photography and computer graphics.

Bhaswar Chatterjee (Regular Faculty-Acting)

Bhaswar Chatterjee is a very renowned actor of Indian cinema who has been working since 1998 in Bengali Film industry as well as in Bollywood. Awarded as the most versatile actor for ‘JOY BABA LOKNATH’Bhaswar Chatterjee started his career from television in ‘JALTARANGA’ followed by ‘KANAKANJALI’. He is a popular face of Bengali television and has been part of more than 100 television series. He has also kept remarkable contribution in Bengali films like ‘ALO’, ‘RAJ MAHAL’, ‘KRISHNAKANTER WILL’, ‘BALLYGUNGE COURT’, ‘ETI’, ‘TEEN TANAYA’, ‘ROYAL BENGAL RAHASYA’, ‘CHUPKATHA’, ‘JEKHANE BHOOTER BHOY’, ‘NAMTE NAMTE’, ‘GOGOLER KIRTI’, ‘ABBY SEN’, ‘AHA RE’, ‘MAHALAYA’, ‘BOBBYR BONDHURA’, ‘MICHHIL’ to name a few. Hiran Mitra (Guest Faculty-Film Direction/Acting)

Sir Hiran Mitra is known for hissignificant contribution to the visual stimulus in eastern Indian films, television, theatreand literature since 1980. He is also known to have defined a benchmark for book cover design for contemporary Bengali literature.His paintings are statements on the human condition and the twilight zones of reality and time. Bold brush strokes, layered washes and sprays and unconventional use of acrylic and industrial paints characterize his paintings. He is part of the Open Window Artist group and has been part of the Painters 80 Artist group in Kolkata. As an art director some of his notable films are NECKLACE, MOHANAGAR@KOLKATA, CHATURANGA, PROTIBEEMBO etc.

Amitava Nag (Guest Faculty-Film Direction/Acting)

Amitava Nag is an independent film criticand writes extensively on cinema for Outlook, CNN IBNLive, The Statesman, Deep Focus and Dear Cinema, to name some. He is one of the founder-members of the film magazine SILHOUETTE and its current editor as well. He has authored several books on Indian cinema, published by reputed publishing house like Harper Collins. He also writes poetry and short fiction in Bengali and English for several magazines both national and international. Some of his famous books are:-

Siladitya Sen is a senior film scholar, a critic,analyst,journalist,jury member and literary editor working in Ananda Bazar group.He has been one of the editors of cinema in India,an NFDC publication and served on jury for various international film festivals which includes National Film Award ,Indian Panoroma,FCCI award at HBFF and Mumbai International Film Festival.He has been a widely acclaimed author of books on Indian cinema and literature and considered an authority on Mrinal Sen. He wrote the book MRINAL SEN ER FILM JATRA and he is also the co author of the book INDIAN FILM CULTURE: INDIAN CINEMA.

Indrasis Acharya (Guest Faculty-Film Direction/Acting)

Indrasis Acharya is an Indian film director working in Bengali cinema.He came to the prominence after directing his first feature film, BILU RAKKHOSH, which won acclaim in both national and international sphere. He next worked in PUPA which got rave reviews and won many awards and accolades. It was screened on Hanoi International Film Festival, Kolkata International Film Festival and many more. PUPA won five best films, two best directors and many other awards. Indrasis Acharya’s third film was ‘THE PARCEL’ for which he won the best director award (Hiralal Sen Memorial) at the 25th Kolkata International Film Festival. He is currently working on his next film titled ‘MAYA BHOY’ with Tota Roy Chowdhury, Rahul and Aparajita Ghosh Das.

Arghyakamal Mitra (HOD-Editing)

The late Ritupawrno Ghosh’s long timeassociate , one of the most outstanding film editors, with around 100 films in his richand sprawling careerMr. ArghyakamalMitrais a prominent name in the Bengali film industry. The most notable work of his career is ‘ABOHOMAN’ for which he bagged the National Award for best editing. Prabuddha Banerjee is a very popular music director and composer who has been predominantly working in Bollywood as well as in Bengali Film Industry. He won Filmfare award for his excellent background score in the film PHORING.He also received great feedback from the audience for the background scores of NAGARKIRTAN, JYESTHOPUTRA and KANTTHO.Some of his notable works are DEBI, EKTI TARAR KHONJE,VIA DARJEELING etc.

Goutom Nag (Guest Faculty-Film Direction/Acting)

Goutom Nag is a veteran sound designer and SFX artist who has been predominantly working with BBC, National Geography, History Channel etc.He is an ex probationary engineer of AkashBani and he has been trained in Advanced Radio Broadcasting Technology Institute of India, New Delhi.He also received his professional audio video recording licence from F.C.T.W.E.I and Indian Association of Sound Engineers.He has worked with major filmmakers like Gautam Ghosh, AnjanDutt, Atanu Ghosh, Kamaleshwar Mukherjee, Anik Dutta, AmolPalekar, ShreeramRaghaban ,Prakash Jhaetc..He has worked in more than 100 telefilms, 40 feature films,100 documentaries and more than 200 commercials.

Nick Rampal (Regular Faculty-Modelling)

Nick Rampal is a renowned model who has been ruling the modelling industry since a decade. He has been the brand ambassador to top notch brands. High profile ramp shows are his regular routine.He was one of the top three models from Eastern India in the Gladrags Mr. India contest.He is also a groomer, show director, fashion choreographer. He is undoubtedly one of the best trainers in the modelling world.

Debarya Banerjee (Regular Faculty-Acting)

Debarya Banerjee is a senior director and producer working with renowned satellite channels, production houses and film units. During early 90s after finishing his film studies Debarya Banerjee started his career under SubrataMitra who was a close associate of Satyajit Ray. He worked behind the camera in around ten films. Then he joined Rainbow Productions as a director. He directed the much talked about show ‘Mukhomukhi’ for Doordarshan. He was also the director of the popular show ‘Bandemonium’ for Tara Muzic and ‘Bandstand’ for Ne Bangla channels. He has made many documentaries and ad films such as ‘Masters of Mudra’ documentary series on classical dance maestros for Doordarshan, ‘Nana Hey’ documentary on Gambhira Folk dance and drama in Bengal (Malda) for Doordarshan, ‘Jorhat Races’ on 125 years of Jorhat Gymkhana Club and the Missing Tribes, ‘Fragments of an Artist’ profile on Arindam Chatterjee produced by Chitrakoot Art Gallery.

Rajib Gupta (Regular Faculty-Acting)

Rajib Gupta is a renowned voice artiste, an elocutionist, a public speaker, a director of documentary filmsand short films (for the Indian Government and the corporate sector), a writer, aplaywright, a lyricist, a textile designer, an illustrator, a cartoonist, a teacher, alecturer and a cultural-revivalist.He is the grandson of legendary music maestro Pankaj Mullick.Mullick. In2005,Rajib Gupta and his wife Jhinuk Gupta founded the non-profit organizationPANKAJ MULLICK MUSIC AND ART FOUNDATION. Although the organization wasinitially dedicated solely to the preservation and promotion of the myriad works ofPankaj Mullick, it has since 2010 diversified into reviving and propagating the culturalheritage of Bengal as well.He has performed live in various cities across the country and abroad. He has alsoperformed on radio and television. His writings have beenpublished as articles andbooks. His elocutions too have been published by a renowned music company in theform of a CD.His activities have been widely covered in the media, be it – print, electronic or digital.

Pranam Roy (Regular Faculty-Acting)

Pranam Roy is one of the leading anchors of Kolkata who has been ruling since 2000.He has anchored numerous events for renowned corporates, schools and colleges. He has also conducted many quizzes, antaksharis etc. He has been training people who want to make it big in the industry as anchors since 2007.

Sanchita Kushary Bose (Regular Faculty-Modelling)

SanchitaKushary Bose is a veteran model coordinator from the city of joy, Kolkata. She started her journey by organising a musical programme and a fashion show for her college with the help of eminent fashion photographer Sanat Ghosh at the poolside of Hotel Hindustan International with twenty models in the year 1994 and thus she gave birth to her brainchild ‘The Dream Merchants’, a single stop place for models in the country with an impressive list right from a Miss India to a Ford Super Model and a Glad Rags Mega Model. Since then‘The Dream Merchant’ has been expanding its horizons to include product launches for corporate firms, event management, choreoghraphy and running a grooming school for models other than the modelling agency it already runs. They also coordinated for the casting of a Vidhu Binod Chopra film and did a shoot with Aditi Govitrikar for P.C. Chandra Jewellers of Kolkata. From Celina Jaitley, Bipasha Basu to Koena Mitra, Piyu Sarkar and Rimi Sen, they all owe their grooming and their discovery in some way or the other to ‘The Dream Merchants’. Today Ms Bose holds a monopoly over models, modelling, fashion shows, model hunts, beauty contests etc. and her company has its branches at Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad and Dhaka.She is also the editor of ‘Daamini’, an online magazine about fashion trends, food reviews, entertainment news and lifestyle trends. SanchitaKushary Bose will be mentoring the students of modelling section at GTFTI.

Suavo Mukherjee (Regular Faculty-Cinematography)

Suavo Mukherjee is a cinematographer and writer who has been associated with various commercial and academic projects in national and international levels for multinational brands. He obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Motion Picture Photography for Film and Television from Satyajit Roy Film & Television Institute. He was a guest faculty of Photography in National Institute of Fashion Technology, Kolkata. He also worked as a scriptwriter for Star India Pvt. Ltd. He worked for Star Jalsa and was associated with shows which performed well in both the old and new TRP standards in urban as well as rural sector.

Indranil Mukherjee (Regular Faculty-Modeling)

Photography isn't a child's play. The digital age of filters and photoshop can never replace the vision and perfection of an ace photographer. Photography is an art and Indranil Mukherjee is an artist. His frames have that masterstroke that creates the difference between the ordinary and perfect.Indranil Mukerjee has been a professional photographer since last two decades. He has worked and travelled extensively with the likes of Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Kiran Uttam Ghosh, Dev r Nil to name just a few. Advertising has been an arena to express and he continues to work for agencies of international and national repute across India and Bangladesh.
